If I go to a Dr's office and they write me a script to get a test done. The Dr would prefer that I go tothe hospital that he work for, for the test. However, i prefer to get the test at another hospital. Isn't it illeagal for the Dr to say that the test must be done at his preferred hospital?

Its not necessary illegal unless the doctor won't treat you if you don't go to his hospital. Sometimes there are other reasons why he might want you to go his hospital, rather than another. He might have more faith and confidence in the abilities of the people doing the test. If its a simple blood test or x-ray, it shouldn't matter so long as its OK with your insurance company. It might be illegal if the doctor were directly compensated for you having the test done at his hospital. But even if it is illegal, there's not much you can do about it except change doctors. If you have a real problem with this, I would advise you to contact the PA Board of Medicine, through their web site at www.dos.state.pa.us/med .
