Legal Question in Medical Malpractice in Pennsylvania

unnecessary masectomy

i had a simple masectomy after a cancerous tumor came out during a routine implant removal. My breast cancer surgeon told me that because no one knew where in the breast it was that a masectomy was the only 100% way of getting rid of this cancer.I had an MRI two months before this implant removal and just received that report which clearly states a cyst was present, but was never revealed to me. I am having a very hard time living with this-I feel so violated-I always took care of myself and I feel I look so horrible with this reconstruction. I trusted my doctor. What should I do? Can I put a claim in myself? Is it worth it?

Re: unnecessary masectomy

I presume you beleive that you might have lost the opportunity to have received a lumpectomy as opposed to mastectomy if the cyst revealed preoperatively had been evaluated. Your concern might have validity. Please call Dr David Brown in our office at 800 440-5297. Dr Browm is one of the physicians who conducts initial telephone interviews for us concerning prospective clients. After Dr. Brown has obtained furthert information from you we will be in a better position to determine whether your potential claim has merit.

I hope our office can be of help.
