Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Pennsylvania

ex has no job but wants to keep house

3 years ago my ex-fiance and I bought a house. Both names appear on the deed and mortage. I left him 4 months ago- we never got married. Two weeks after I left him he was fired from work. I have no interest in the house but he wants to keep it. He has been making payments but still doesn't have a job. Would his not having a job cause problems removing my name from the mortage and deed? What should I do?

your help is greatly appreciated!

Re: ex has no job but wants to keep house

The only way to remove yourself on the mortgage is either to sell the property or have it refinanced. Your ex would not qualify for a mortgage because he is not working. It is fortunate that he is paying the mortgage. If he defaults your credit can be ruined. I suggest you seek legal counsel before any damage is done to your credit. It is best that the property be sold unless something else can be arranged. If I can be of any assistance please call.
