Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Pennsylvania

property line dispute

I bought my house 35 years ago. Ten years ago a family moved in behind us buying the neighboring property. When I bought my house I was told that I owned up to a certain point. A driveway was rebuilt and a deck was built. My neighbor is now insisting that he owns through the middle of my deck and driveway. Years ago, before that land was developed, and when I thought it was mine (as told when I bought it) I had the piece of property filled and landscaped. Now my neighbors are being really horrible. Parking their cars in my driveway and not mowing the area that I had landscaped and not letting me take care of it. You have to understand how they have been behaving about ''their property'' and they will not let me buy it even though I took care of it for 35 years before they lived here when I still thought that it belonged to me! What can I do. Is there such a thing as squatters rights?

Re: property line dispute

Before you go any further you will need to get the property surveyed, also have appropriate markers placed on the border of your property. In the event the property you have maintained over the past 35 years now belongs to your neighbors you may be able to challenge their ownership interests. In any event you need to contact a real estate attorney who can talk you through this process as soon as possible!
