If you are in high school, you may still be entitled to a benefit. As an adult, you can go to your local Social Security office and ask for the status. SSA does not always stop payments when it should. If your father receives money from SS that he should no long receive, SSA may declare an overpayment and come after YOU for reimbursement.

The money paid to your father is to be administered in your best interest. You may be entitled to payment of any money that he did not spend on you. As an adult, you can demand an audit of those funds.
