Legal Question in Traffic Law in Pennsylvania

Can I have a trial date from the local magistrate when I never recieved a citation. A state trooper saw me driving on a suspended licence. He never stopped me though and called me later where I made my second mistake besides driving and told him it was me. The trooper then stopped at my house to talk tome then left telling me I would get something in the mail. The other day I recived a letter from the magistrate that they recived my plea of not guilty with a court date. I never recieved a citation from the trooper or in the mail is this legal or do I have any case to fight this?
