Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Pennsylvania

my mom is in need of moving into an assisted living center, I have power of attorney. My question is as follows, I live in southeastern Ohio, my mom in Philadelphia. I travel back and forth on a monthly basis and it is costing me $500.00 for each trip. Can I set up a payment to myself for this? I can not afford to keep paying my own expenses; yet, my mom needs me more and more to be there. Thanks! Seamus Galligan

Review the power of attorney see if it discusses compensation or reimbursement of epense to the power of attorney. i would think taking the expenses of commuting back and forth would be a legitimate expense providing you have extensive documentation ie. receipts etc. If your mother is still mentally competant she could always update the power of attorney and have the clause of reimbursement for expenses specifically added. Best adice review the power of attorney perhaps with an attorney.
