Legal Question in Business Law in Portugal

I am author of a book that I have left on consignment at a number of bookstores and tourist centers in Portugal. One of these centers was broken into and robbed a few months ago. I have now received a letter from this Center saying that the money stolen from their safe included "my" money, based on the sale of nearly two hundred books. Their position is essentially, "Sorry!" My feeling is that the money is not "mine" until the consignee gives it to me. My question is, in this situation, do I have any rights? Does the Center have an obligation to pay me in spite of this robbery or was I, indeed, robbed a few months ago by people who broke in at night?

It will depend on the specific terms of your agreement.

Either you sold the books, with the possibility of devolution,

You haven�t sold the books, but only left them to be sold, in exchange of a fee.

So it will depend.

My general opinion is that this is not an ended case. But there are some facts to be cleared.
