Re: Forced Sale of Real Estate with Multiple Owners

One of two or more owners cannot force another owner to sign a deed conveying the property to a third party. However, the owner wishing to sell could convey his/her interest to a third party, thereby making the other original owner/s and the third party co-owners. To avoid this, an owner could purchase the interest of the other. If there is sufficient equity in the property, an institutional mortgage may be available to do so.

In some cases, the Superior Court may order the property to be partitioned. More specific facts and circumstances of your situation would be necessary to provide further information.
