Legal Question in Bankruptcy in South Carolina

Fustrated

I got a statement from my trustee last year stating the my approximate close date for my bankruptcy would be 4/10/07. I just got another statemen (4/17/07), stating that I still owe $1600. That means I still have at least 8 months left to pay on my bankruptcy. How could they be so far off from the appoximate close date? Do I need to check into this or leave it alone?

You definitely need to check into this. If you were represented during your bankruptcy, please contact your lawyer, or call another lawyer who can look into this for you. Alternatively, if you're not represented, call the trustee's office yourself and request an explanation. First, though, go back and double check the terms of your plan - if it was a straight dollar figure times number of months (usually 48 or 60), then it should be a simple matter of going back and doing the math against the calendar. Then you'll have numbers to present to the trustee (or your lawyer). Good luck!
