Legal Question in Criminal Law in South Carolina

High Crinimal Domestic Violence Case

What usually happens when a person is charged with HCDV and they didn't have anything to do with the situation for the arrest because its this couple I know that lives in SC and the female has an serious drinking problem that she can't control that causes her to be violent, so one night they had an argument that seemed to get way out of hand she ended up with a bump on her head and a scratch on her arm so she called the police out of spite to try and get back at him and he ended up going to jail and receiving a crinimal record of High Aggervated CDV, but he has never been a violent person or had a crinimal record until now, because she told police that she wanted to be on the wittness program, but now she realizes what she's done now and feel guilty about it knowing now that she really needs help with her drinking is there something that can be done about this situation.
