Legal Question in Criminal Law in South Carolina

Can the police take my car and not give it back?

A week ago the Georgetown County police pulled me over for a traffic stop. Then asked me if they could search my car. I said yes because i had did nothing wrong. A few min later they told anther officer to cuff me. They later arrested me and said that all the stuff they found in my car matched items stolen out of vechiles in the past month. I told them everything in my car was mine and that i could prove it. They told me that since the stuff was stolen( when it wasn't) that my carwas now their property because it was invloved in transporting stolen goods! Can they do that or no? I need help ASAP please help me!

They can seize the car, but that doesn't mean that its permenent. You have not been found guilty and there is a process for getting the car returned. Look at the arrest papers and they should have given you something that explains it. A lawyer can help as well. Go back and click on my name if you want my phone number and I can fill you in.
