Legal Question in Family Law in South Carolina

My 12 y/o son wants to attend the school where his father lives

I have full custody of my 12 y/o son. He has ADHD & depression. Problems this year in school resulted in bad grades, discipline problems, changed from public school to a private christian school in which he was kicked out 2 months left in the school year, so I allowed his father to put him in school 30 miles away where his father lives to finish out the school year. Now, dad wants joint custody and to stop child support, split any medical, and continue school there for the future. Son wants to go to school there,(even though grades did not improve) but is torn between wanting to be with both parents. Father has threatened if I don't go along with plan, he'll seek full custody and have me pay him child support, but more than I get from him. Due to physical abuse and being afraid of him, I agreed to accept $35 a week in child support 4 years ago even though he makes well over $100,000 per year. I do not want to give up child custody or share custody with this man.

You need to seek the advice of an attorney as to your proper action. This business of child custody by one who has a history of physical abuse is a serious thing. Another concern is your consent, because of fear, to a child support sum which results in a wrong to the child. The child support is for the child not you and his father's ability to force you into situations which are not proper needs to be addressed.
