Legal Question in Family Law in South Carolina

Should we have to pay son's medical bills

My husband was given custody of his children 10 yrs ago. His son just recently moved to his mother's house. Three years ago, we had to send his daughter to a special school in Utah, in which we are in serious debt with(thousands). His ex wife has never paid any child support during our marriage. Nor has she carried any insurance on the children. She is now trying to hold us responsible for all medical and dental for my husband's son. I can count the number of clothes and shoes she bought for both children in 5 years. Are we liable for these costs or should we counter sue for child support and other costs?

Re: Should we have to pay son's medical bills

You need to consult with an attorney. Child support obligation suits have a time limit after which no claim can be made. Every parent has an obligation to support his or her child, regardless of who has custody.
