Legal Question in Family Law in South Carolina

Adultry

A friend has admitted to his wife that he is having an affair and he wants a divorce. He and his wife still live in the same house. Do you have any advice on what his first steps should be other than getting an attorney. Since he has already admitted to adultry would it be any worse for him if he moved out of his home and in with the ''other woman''?

Re: Adultry

I would not advise moving in with the other woman. I would advise that he close all jointly owned accounts and open up individual accounts, that he take care of his wife and family financially, and file for divorce, going into the divorce with clean hands. If he moves in with the other woman that will create some emotional issues that are hard to deal with during a divorce (for both parties). If a divorce is imminent, I would also advise that he file for divorce as soon as possible so that they can get an agreement in place to address all the issues.
