Legal Question in Family Law in South Carolina

Divorce

I have just received divorce papers that I have 30 days to reply in. I also just declared bankruptcy, so my funds are nil. I have only a little more than a month before I have to be out of my home, and my husband is trying to avoid paying any allimony at all. I need help now, and I need a lawyer willing to work pro-bono, or on a payment plan, please, I need help immediately. Is there anyone out there who can help me?

Re: Divorce

There are some legal aide clinics throughout the state. Try calling the Lawyer Referral Service at 1-800-868-2284. You can also call your husband's attorney and ask him/her for a 30 day extention to answer the complaint. The extentions are almost always given. If they agree, send them a letter stating the extention and ask them to sign it and return to you so that you have it in writing. Good luck.
