Parent debt

Does parents debt pass to the children. Considering divorce, but my husband is financially irresponsible and I am afraid he will run up huge bills that my children will have to pay off.

Re: Parent debt

The short answer is no. However, should he pass away, certain of his debts may have to be paid off from his probate estate, but that's a very different issue/question.

These are complex issues, and it is important that they be handled correctly. Therefore, it is important that you consult an experienced family law attorney to find out what options are available to you based on the facts of your particular case.
