Legal Question in Disability Law in Tennessee

If an employee is injured at work, and their work is asking for their past medical history. Is it against the law, privacy act, or other discrimination laws to do so. If the employee feels that their past medical history is none of the companies business. The injury occured at work due to a spill and the employee is being denide workmans compensation. It this practice legal?

It depends on the reason why the employer is asking about the past medical history. This is important because if you are looking for an accommodation of a disability, then you absolutely have to provide the requested information. Otherwise, if it is a worker's compensation issue, this would be something controlled by the state worker's compensation laws.
