Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Tennessee

Lien on property

My father in law had become disabled and had a judement come against him for a credit card he owed for. They have placed a lien against his property. He is on a fixed income and cannot pay for the remaining balance on the card. What do we need to do? When my father in law dies does the lien still apply to whoever gets the property? Thank you for your help.

Re: Lien on property

Yes, the lien will be on the property and will need to satisfied before clean title will be able to be transferred. BEst results are to attermpt to settle now for a lesser amount knowing you will be made whole at the time of sale of the property.
