Legal Question in DUI Law in Tennessee

dui & court appointed attorney

23 yr old charged w/ 2nd dui offense, asked for court appointed attorney, judge said I made too much money to have one. Is this up to the judge's discression? (and I honestly can't afford to pay an attorney) any suggestions??

The qualifications for court appt attys are different in each cty. In some courts you qualify if you earn just above minimum wage. In others if you are out of jail you do not qualify for an atty. 2nd DUI cost about 2000 to 2500. Some attys let you make payments. Check your local phone book
