Child Visitation/ School Zone problems

I have primary custody of my 10 yr old son. However, his dad and I share decision making rights when it comes to education. I live 45 minutes from the school he is currently going to and I want to change him to our school zone but I know his dad will not agree. What should I do? I am looking for a job and I will no longer be able to transport him to and from school. I do not expect hid dad to agree to make the drive to our school zone either but I do not know what to do. Our visitation is split pretty much in half with both of us taking and picking him up at school a couple of days each week. I would be willing ot change the visitation schedule but it seems that would take time away from his dad and I do not want to do that either. Besides, his dad will neer agree to that. I am spending about 3 hours a day 3 days a week on the road just transporting him to the school that is in his dads school zone. I was guilted into making the decision to put him in that school and now I cannot keep doing what I am doing. Especially, when I go to work at the first of the year. Can you offer me any advice on what to do and how best to handle this problem?

Explain your you situation with the dad. You must first give him to opportunity to object to placing the child in another school. You should also consider in problems the change would cause for the child. If you and dad just can't agree, then next court of action would be to let the judge/referee decide. I would also contact an attorney to ask his/her advice on the matter.
