Legal Question in Family Law in Tennessee

Tennessee elder competency

Is it legal for a family doctor to declare someone incompetent or does it have to be a Pyschiatrist? Will it stand in court if the family doctor does it?

Re: Tennessee elder competency

IT'S LEGAL FOR ANY M.D. TO HAVE AN OPINION ON SOMEONE'S COMPETENTCY. BUT LIKE ANYTHING ELSE, IT IS JUST AN OPINION AND EVERYBODY HAS ONE. IF YOU DISAGREE WITH HIS OPINION, I'D GET A SECOND OPINION BY ANOTHER DOCTOR OR PSYCHIATRIST.
