Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Tennessee

Defrauded?

I met a female on the internet and we became close. She is under the age of 18 and I am over the age 18. We became so close I proposed to her and she accepted with us both agreeing that it would take place after she turned 18. I met her in person traveling from CA to TN.I gave her an engagement ring as well as other gifts. The last time I traveled to see her she invited me over to house along with a couple of her friends.Upon arriving I was greated by the local law and then detained.During that time I was subjected to slander, defamation of charactor, and disparagment of reputation. Needless to say I have no crimminal background so I was released by the law with no charges being filed. She then denied she knew me, changed the story around some, then told her friends that it was all a game she had played so as to get attention. I have not been able to get in touch since. The total sum of dollars spent equals appr. $9,800.00. Is there anything I can do? This is a brief summary of all involved. Thank you for your time.

Re: Defrauded?

from the facts given so far, you appear to have several causes of action against this person and/or her family, consisting of but necessarily limited to malicious prosecution, abuse of process, defamation, invasion of privacy, intentional infliction of emotional distress, etc...

email with more facts and i can further assist you legally in recovering compensatory and/or punitive damages for this person's conduct against you.

Re: Defrauded?

You can sue her, but you may have to go to TN to do so. Even then, even if you win, does she have the ability to pay any judgment. Good chance she sold the ring and spent the money. Sorry, but I am just trying to give you the facts of life.
