Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Tennessee

Monthly or not?

I presently reside in a old hotel, which has been converted into studio apts. While there are many concerns about things that go on here, one that I cannot find the answer to is this: We can pay rent here monthly, weekly, or bi weekly. However, if we pay monthly, and the month ends up with 31 days in it, we are REQUIRED to pay and additional amount of money for the 31st day. We don't have a lease here, however, I am guessing that if it says X amount of dollars per month, that should mean month, regardless of the amount of days in it. Am I right?

Re: Monthly or not?

You get what you negotiate. If you do not have a written lease, they tell you about the additional day's charge up front, and they are consistent, then they probably can charge you for the extra day. I would ask for a pro-rated refund in February.
