Legal Question in Disability Law in Texas

I got hit by a car while riding my bicycle to work, now I can't return to work until 100% recovery. My doctor says I can return on light duty, however, my employer won't let me work light duty because it wasn't a work related injury. Now I may lose my disability because the doctors says I can go back but my employer says I can't work. I was on my way to work with the only transportation I have, I feel like this injury is work related. Is there any truth to my assumption? Or is there anything I can do not to lose my disability?
