can a hotel legally charge me for a room I canceled the reservation on and did not use?

As a Franchise Attorney I can only say it depends on the hotel's stated reservation policy. Many will charge for a full night if the cancellation is not made within a certain advance period. Consult with a good business or franchise attorney in your area for specific advice.
