Legal Question in Consumer Law in Texas

Mechanic Problems

We made an oral agreement with a mechanic to build a motor for our racecar. We have given him all the money $821.00 on December 23, 2006 and $1200.00 on February 3, 2007 and the car is still not ready. He is our sponsor, his labor for building the motor is his sponsorship to us, his name on the car. He has lied several times about when the car will be ready, which was suposed to be done by first test and tune day which was on March 24, 2007 we have missed 7 race days this race season. It was suposed to be done in January, then February, then March, then in April by the first race. It is now the middle of May and it is not done. We have been very patient because his son has been ill, but I think we have waited long enough. What can we do legally?

Re: Mechanic Problems

Oral agreements are generally enforceable in Texas. I would recommend that you speak with an attorney in your area to have him or her write you a demand letter. Hopefully that will do enough to get the mechanic to work more quickly.
