Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

I co-signed on my husband's private student loan, I am currently laid off and can not afford the payments. If the loan goes into collection can we be sued and can his wages be garnished. We live in Ft. Worth, TX? If so how immediate is the process once it would go into collection?

If the loan isn't paid, you can be sued.

First, you would be served with a citation. Eventually the case would go to trial, and the creditor would get a judgment. He would then start trying to collect it. Wages cannot be garnished in Texas to collect an ordinary debt (which is what a student loan is).
