Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

Gift or Debt

My ex-boyfriend (or fiance since he proposed) and I have accumulated some common property while we were living together for 15 months. At the moment he requested me to leave our house, he paid me back my equity portion in house (I got written cheque of $15000) and let me keep the car, which was used as family car for all 15 months and registered under my name though he paid 70% of original price. At present he changed his mind and trying to collect funds through his attorney saying that car money were loaned. I never ask him to lend me any money especially for the family car. What my actions should be?

Re: Gift or Debt

Since your X has a lawyer, your next move should be to get a lawyer also. Sounds like you might have provided sufficient services to justify what you received, but these allegations will have to be made as counter claims. good luck
