Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

I sent a letter to my security company stating that I was paying the final installment on my 60 month contract. I have been contacted several times over the last two months about Vivint wanting me to renew my contract. I told them that I was not interested. Now as of 8/2/2012, they are saying that I owe them money. I told them my account terminated in June and that I had sent them my final payment on 5/24/2012. They told me I had to write a "HANDWRITTEN" letter to them, no where on the contract does it state this. I wrote the handwritten letter and a typed letter as well. Today, of course, they notify me that they will not cancel my account because it has been renewed for a year automatically. They say they never received my letter but they did receive my payment! Texas had a house bill for automatic renewals http://www.capitol.state.tx.us/tlodocs/79R/billtext/html/HB02229I.htm Did this thing pass because I could really use the law that states they have to notify me in writing and give me an opportunity to make sure it is cancelled. They have lied for years.
