Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas

In 2009 my sister learned that her husband had touched her daughter (9 at the time). He convinced her it wasn't sexual or for sexual gratification so she didn't report it. Her daughter told a friend about the touching that happened in 2009 about 6 months ago and it was reported to the authorities. The step dad is now admitting it was a sexual touch and the detective says my sister may be charged since she didn't report it when she first found out in 2009. What can we expect to happen to her and the kids?

Fran Brochstein Attorney & Mediator

Your sister needs to be in an attorney's office on Monday morning!

This is serious and she should NOT be talking to anyone without an attorney.

You live in the Houston area.

You might want to contact attorney Mike Driver.

His phone number is 713-868-6100.

His firm is Sharp & Driver.

They have a website.

I don't know if he does this type of criminal law.

Tell him Fran Brochstein sent you.

I've known him for several years.

He is a decent guy & a hard working attorney.

If I were you, I would sell, pawn, raise money to hire a good attorney.

This is a serious matter & I'd have money on hand to hire an attorney immediately.

I'm an attorney and I never do anything without hiring an attorney that is an expert in the field of law that I need. I only do family law so when I need an attorney in another field, I find someone that I know and trust in that area of the law -- the law is so specialized these days that no lawyer can know everything about the law. Hire an advocate to help you! Your sister needs to keep her mouth shut or she could really hurt herself! If anyone calls her, she needs to let her phone go to voice mail or she needs to say that she is hiring a lawyer & she needs to be quiet!

Good luck!
