DWI case pending - DA add another charge?
In Harris County

Can the DA add another charge to a case that is pending in court related to a DWI offense 6 months later?

I was charged with DWI in November. I am awaiting trial. Now that I refused the DA's plea they want to add another charge for me having a gun in my vehicle. I was licensed to carry but I guess since the new law passed in September 2007 - they now want to use that against me.

Is this common for them to threaten a person with another charge months after an offense has occured?
