Legal Question in Elder Law in Texas

My elderly aunt passed away before she could get another signature on her bank deposit box. According to the bank the family needs a court order to gain access. Does her children need to hire an attorney for that or can they do it? They do not have the money to hire an attorney. Any advise will be greatly appreciated.

You can file a motion with the court to inspect a safe deposit box. Most attorneys charge by the hour, and this being a fairly straightforward deal, probably wouldn't cost too much. If you're unable to pay, you may check with a legal aid center, or local law school, and get a volunteer attorney or law student to help with the motion.
