Type refers to how the song is synchronized. A visual vocal use would be The Rolling Stones singing a song on camera. A background vocal would be the Rolling Stones song over a scene in which they were not visible. Other types of use might be visual instrumental (a band on camera, no singing) or background instrumental (band playing over a scene/no singing). There are other types but those are the primary ones. Duration is simply how long the song is heard. Many licenses are for just segments of songs in which case the duration could be measured in seconds. If the song is heard interspersed, you can total the duration or separately list each segment.
