Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Cost of divorce

I am currently married and about to get divorced. I don't have the money to pay for a lawyer to represent me in the case. However, my wife and I have agreed for the kids and our home to go to me. With everything already situated how can we handle this without a lawyer, because I really have no way to pay a lawyer.

Either you have to know what you are doing, and it sounds as if you don't; or you will need the assistance of a lawyer. Especially if you want to end up with an enforceable court order and clear title to your house. Many lawyers will work on a payment plan. Keep calling. Good luck.

You can probably get access to the forms in the Harris County Law Library in the Jury Assembly Building downtown. However, since the divorce will involve children it will be very difficult to impossible to draft a competent Final Decree of Divorce on your own. If everything is agreed to, I can handle it for you very reasonably. Contact me if you are interested in discussing what I can do for you.
