Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Husbands ''changes'' during divorce process

I am in the process of a divorce. My question is concerning my husbands changing of property titles bank accounts etc.

My husband owned his business prior to our marriage. Once I ask him for the divorce he began to make several changes with our community property. Some before he filed, some after. He changed the titles of all our vehicles from our names to the corporation name. Now he is claiming they all belong to the corporation. He opened a checking account out of state, the money he used to open the account would have been community property. He also changed his status with the State Comptrollers Office on the corporation information, he removed himself as president and has placed someone else in the position.

How relevant/serious is this behavior in a divorce? Based on your experience, how does the judge react when a spouse goes to such obvious means to keep the other spouse from realizing a fair settlement?

What your husband sounds like he is doing is transefering community assets to a corporation which he may claim to be seperate. You need to have an attorney immediately get a Temporary Restraining Order to stop this or you risk losing your interest in these assets. For those assets allready transfered, your attorney will need to get them back into the community estate or join the corporation into the divorce to attach them. The short answer to your question about the judge's view of this.. not amused and will let your husband know that. Move quickly. Good Luck. If you need an attorney in the North Texas area, call me.

He can be stopped, with a temp.order. The judge will not tolerate this kind of actions
