Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Legality rights of 13 yrs absentee 'so-called' father

I recently married a wonderful woman with a beautiful daughter; now my daughter. My 13 year old daughter has never knew her biological father nor had any contact or relationship; until recently he arrived out of no where and introduced himself to her at a jr. high basketball game she was playing in. This has really upset my daughter and my wife. This man has never made any attempt to be apart of her life and/or contribute any monetary or any kind of support throughout the past 13 years. My wife never married this individual and never sought out any compensation or remedy from this man. She was satisfied with him just being the coward he was and choosing not to be a part of thier lives and never once called or attempt to assist them while they were on their own. He now, out of the blue, has tried to make contact with her by going to her games and trying to retrieve her grade reports at her school without discussing or contacting us or considering that my daughter does not want anything to do with him. We've talked and asked our daughter how she feels about this and what she desires from any of this...and she simply stated she wants things to be as they are and strongly does not want to have any relationship with this person.

No telling what changed the guy, but he has no right to her grade reports or anything else. You need to sit with the school and tell them this. Without some document of parentage, he is a stalker. Treat him accordingly.

Good Luck.

I totally agree with James.

I would encourage you to talk to an attorney in your area.

You might need to get a restraining order against this man.

Without paternity being established, he has no more rights than I do to contact this child!
