Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Mother has changed her mind

I have a question relating to child support issues.

I have a child from someone and received ''intent to sue'' papers from the mother a couple of weeks ago. Our court date is in September.

The mother called my dad and told him that she wants the court proceedings to quit and no longer wants the Attorney General to be involved.

She has two other kids, all from different fathers and apparently has gone to court with them and is just tired of going that route.

The child we have together is twelve and the mother said she is old enough to pick the phone up to call me whenvever she needs anything. I agree. My parents and brothers have taken extreme great care of my daughter from day one. They have gone over and beyond for the both of us.

My question is how we go about doing this? Do we have to sign some form of document? Do we still have to go to court in September?

Re: Mother has changed her mind

If she received any state or federal money, at any time for this child, then she cannot stop the cause of action since the government is looking for reimbursement.

You really need an attorney to help you with the Texas Attorney General's office. They will be looking for child support since the time the child was born along with 6% interest.

If you don't appear in court in September, the court can still enter a judgment against you without you being present. It is not appealable--so you need to show up no matter what the mother tells you!

The Texas A G has served you and they are under no obligation to give you any other notice that the one you received.

Please take this matter extremely seriously! I have men with judgments against them for $5,000 - over $100,000!They will be paying their past-due child support from their social security payments when they retire!
