Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

tring to get my daughter back home

I have had joint legal custody of my daughter since march of 99.Iam the father and the custodial parent.Her mother is the non-custodial parent.She does have visitation rights that she has never used.She has nothing to do with her daughter at all.May be 1 call a year.Well Im in florida and let my daughter go to texas to visit friends of the family for the summer her mother snatched her at a park and said that she was going to use her visitaion that states 6 weeks for the summer.To keep peace I said ok just have her back after the six weeks .Now she will not bring her back and says that there is nothing I or anyone can do she gave birth to her and its her daughter.Im real worried,her mother has anouther child witch she was with at the mall and got caught steeling and went to jail.I dont feel my daughter is in a good or safe place.I dont know where to start.please help think you chris english

If you are now residing in Florida and the mother is in Texas, in addition to considering a writ of habeas corpus (with its expense) you might try and contact your local sheriff's office since interference with custody is a crime in Florida.
