Legal Question in Medical Leave in Texas

Maternity

What is the law in the state of Texas on maternity leave. Is it leave with or without pay? My understanding is that if you work for a large company then you do not qualify for leave with pay. Is this true? What would you suggest in my situation.

Re: Maternity

All leave, for whatever medical purpose, is governed by the same company rules and state and federal law. The Federal Medical Leave Act permits up to 12 weeks of leave without pay. Many companies covered by the law require you first to use paid leave and vacation as part of those 12 weeks, leaving the balance unpaid.
