Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Texas

Church release form

Are release forms supposed to be composed by a lawyer to be valid? We are small church and are thinking of typing up our own release form for our youth group trips. Would it be valid in court, if there were ever an accident causing injury or even death?

Release forms are seldom worth the effort to work on them. Any money you spend on a lawyer to prepare one will be exceeded by a lawyer to take it apart. Most often the release letter is used as proof of your desire to avoid responsibility for your negligence. The money would be better spent to buy a million dollar insurance policy for negligent acts.
