Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Texas

Lay off /rehire/lay off

I recently laid off from my job in early april of this year. I was entitled to a generous severence package. Prior to my last day of employment I recieved and offer from a competitor that guaranteed me 14k a month for the next 6 months or 84k. So needless to say I was ready to leave. Prior to my last day my current employer asked me to stay with the company. The were going to re-evaluate my pay and allow me to expand my group which would have resulted in higher bonuses. In less then 3 months, It looks like I am going to be laid off again. Do I have any recourse to hold them accountable for the financial loss I recieved because I did not take the job offer from the competitor.

No. Not without a written employment contract.
