Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Texas

I have a past employee who I managed at my last place of employment. It has now come to light that he was partially responsible for my job lose there by spreading lies about my management style. Additionally, he continues to say negative things about me at his present place of employment. This is getting back to me through different individuals. I suspect this is also caused me to have problems in getting employment in that particular field (which is not that bad of thing), but still the jist is that he continues to state negative un-true things about me.

I see this as slander. Is there a way to put a stop to this legally?

Obviously you cannot censor what people say. However, if they spread damaging lies, you can seek legal redress. While a court decision and an award of damages my not get you any money, they will create a public record that the statements were lies. It may or may not discourage future statements.

The statute of limitations on defamation actions is short. Suggest you hire an attorney immediately
