Rights to a car

What rights do I have to a car if: I have been paying a car note for the last year, but my boyfriend has been in jail and the car is in his name. I recently told him that i have found someone else to be with in my life and all of a sudden w/o warning i get a call from a priv investigator informing me that he has contacted the finance company and had his name removed and that i had to give up the car otherwise charges will be filed. what rights do i have?

That PI sounds phony to me. The finance co. is not going to take his name off. but if you're making payment, you better get court recognition pr you will wind up losing the car and your money.

Mr. Grissom is correct. Get an attorney to handle the short court procedure to take care of you in this matter.
