Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Texas

Can I sue for reimbursement for possible theft

I was at a game recently and when my family moved our things from one area to an area next to the field(about 40 feet) my son left his Gameboy.($250 value). He went back 5 minutes later and the it was gone. The referee for our game found it and put it in his bag. My wife went up to him and asked where the lost and found, he told her where to go but never mentioned the fact that he'd just found a gameboy. There were 3-4 other parents searching around the area while he was getting ready to officiate the game asking about the gameboy but he never volunteered that he had it. He then refereed the game but never mentioned to myself (one of the coaches)or to the other coach that he'd found something before the game. Eventually after asking a million people I was able to get one of the referees (a sideline judge) to tell me that he saw it in the main referees bag. All three referees are minors. The next day I tracked the referee down and asked him about the gameboy. He then claimed to have turned it in to lost and found. The lady he claimed to have turned it in to was not a tournament employee and said he didn't turn it in to her. He said he just dropped it on the table and she didn't see it and someone else took it. What are my options?

Re: Can I sue for reimbursement for possible theft

You can explain to the youngster that criminal charges may be filed if he doesn't produce the Gameboy. And explain to your son that if he doesn't really care about $250 playtoys he can learn to play with pebbles.
