Legal Question in Insurance Law in Texas

Are the movers responsible for items they dropped?

I recently paid my movers to move me from one apartment to another. Before beginning my move I told my movers to be specifically careful with my 36'' Sony Wega-for it is top heavy. They struggled with the TV, but got the TV on a rolling dolly and to the edge of the truck. As one mover jumped in the truck the other waited by the TV. He lifted his hand off the TV (careless) and the TV flipped and fell to the cement. The manager of the moving company said that they are responsible for .60 per lb that they will pay. I took the TV to a shop and the estimated damages are 4 times what .60 a lb. is. When speaking to the Manager again to let him know my damages he said that it takes 2-4 weeks to file a claim-today is 4 weeks and he gave me some excuse that his accountant is in New York and I should expect a check by the first of the year. What are the movers responsible for? I already filed a claim with my insurance company, but don't think TV's are covered. Would filing in small calims court be an option?

You need to look at the contract. Sometimes they will include languange regaing coverage.

Rarely take their word for it. Yes, small claims is always an option. You should talk to an attorney regarding the pros and cons of small claims.

When did the accident occur?
