Legal Question in Employment Law in Texas

Paying ''under the table''

I have recently accepted a part-time, minimum wage job helping an older couple with their e-bay store. However, when I picked up my first paycheck, they had not taken out any taxes, social security, etc. Is this paying ''under the table''? Or is this okay since it is a family owned/ personal business? Should I accept any other paychecks like this one?

Re: Paying ''under the table''

This conduct is illegal. If you accept such pay, you are participating in the illegality. If they refuse to pay you in accordance with state and federal law, report them to the Department of Labor and the IRS.
