Legal Question in Employment Law in Texas

I worked for a school district we were experiencing cuts. One lady's job got cut but instead of letting her go they fired me to open a spot for her. Are they in the wrong? Oh and there was no reason for my fire when I asked why they said because she's been here longer so we are just going to let you go so she can have your job.

Sounds to me as if your claim for unemployment would be very good.

Did they ever give you an employee's manual of any sort?
