Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Texas

Hello

Im having an issue with a lanlord. I leased a property from a company in 2010-2011. In Oct 2010 I fell behind in rent payments so they went to the court filed eviction and had a judgement issued for back rent. I talked with the company and worked out arrangements to pay all back rent/ fees and court costs. I paid every dime owed. I ended up staying at the property until the end of my lease and when I left I had a zero dollar balance with them. However they have not gone back to court to report the judgemnt has been paid. I have sent numerous letters by certified mail asking them for a letter stating the judgement was paid. They refuse to even respond. I went to the courts and asked for help we have had three court dates and they have not shown up to one date. The judge cant do anything because he says I need to follow the proper legal steps ( which I understand) but Im not a lawyer so I have no idea what those steps are. I have proof of payment however the payment was made to the name that I was suppose to make the payment to per my lease but they filed the judgement under a different name that they use also so they judge was said I have to prove its te same company. All I want is a letter stating that the judgement was statisfied so I can submit that to the credit bureau.

What you need is a notarized Release of Judgment to file into the County Clerk deed records.

To help you out, I can do draft one and send it out on our letterhead to them for a very very reduced flat fee. Email me back and we can maybe get it done this weekend if you want. I suspect they will respond to a letter from an Attorney, even a friendly letter.

Thanks, Edward
