Legal Question in Personal Injury in Texas

My apartment complex is currently renovating the exterior of the units. The other day I stepped on a nail, no big deal because it didn't penetrate my foot. Today though (7/6/11), I stepped on another rusty nail that sailed through my flip-flop and into the ball of my foot. I pulled it out without too much fuss.

I reported it to the complex management, who requested that I show it to the contractor's foreman. I asked him to be more vigilant about picking up nails to which he replied "he'd get on their @$$".

My main concern is that I recently lost my job and subsequently, my health insurance so I can't afford to have it checked out. I don't remember the last time I had a tetanus shot. If this injury becomes infected, is there any way to recoop the cost of the medical care? Thanks so much!

Ask the apartment complex to pay for your tetanus shot if you need one. If they wont' pay, then you should pay. in the future, tuck some $ away for necessary emergencies if you can. If you need medical care, then you have the right to sue the contractor.
